Original Listing Description

Up for bid, I have a vintage Zero Halliburton music gear case covered in two tour's worth of Grateful Dead backstage passes and passes from other shows such as Crosby, Stills, and Nash, Starships, and the Rolling Stones. The front and inside are covered with backstage pass stickers. I do not know the story of the case. I discovered the case in an estate about an hour outside of San Francisco, CA, and it has some interesting backstage passes attached to it. For instance, the July 17, 1989 backstage pass is from the show where the concert film “Downhill from Here” was recorded, making it an important show for the Dead. I’ve listed the passes below. Whoever owned the case was able to get backstage at Dead shows for the duration of their tours. During their downtime from Dead shows, the owner was able to get backstage at shows for bands such as Jefferson Starship, Santana, and the Rolling Stones, so I suspect it belonged to the band; however, I have not been able to verify its previous ownership. The front of the case also features a KIDD sticker from Kidd Candelario, a famous Grateful Dead roadie. Other Grateful Dead Halliburton cases with guaranteed provenance have been sold at major auction houses.The round Steal Your Face sticker on the front top center of the case is a thick label that may have been meant to keep track of band gear. I have noticed the same sticker on the front of other Grateful Dead Halliburton cases.There is a picture of a similar case near the fireplace in the Dead house at Haight and Ashbury, San Francisco. The exterior has MANY dents and scratches. The case has a handle, but is missing a strap. One of the eyes that would attach the strap to the case is missing. The sticker passes on the outside of the case also show significant wear. The case opens, closes, and latches. While the latching mechanisms are sturdy and secure when latched, I sometimes have to finagle it to get it closed. The hinges are sturdy. The combination lock works. I figured out the three-number combination, so the case can be locked and unlocked. I will provide the lock combination to the winning bidder.This is a rad and unique piece of Dead memorabilia.
