Grateful Dead Europe '72 The Complete Recordings 73 CD Box NUMBER 6924 MINT

Sold on eBay March 30th, 2024

Grateful Dead Europe '72 The Complete Recordings 73 CD Box NUMBER 6924 MINT

Mint condition 73 Cd box with all inserts - this is number 6924.I will ship in a large padded box - which will weigh 15 pounds total Because you dared dream this might happen one day… Because you went down to the Gypsy Woman and offered up your first-born to try to make it happen… Because there are enough passionate Dead Heads at Rhino/GD who thought it might be cool for this to happen, well, it happened!! Released in September 2011, this is a gargantuan EUROPE ’72 MEGA-BOX SET containing ALL 22 SHOWS of what is arguably the greatest tour the Grateful Dead ever played, on a whopping and clearly cosmic 73 DISCS (over 70 hours of music!). Really, at this point we probably don’t need to lay on too much hype about how wonderful the music is: Chances are, if you’re even considering buying a copy of this enormous box, you already know how amazing the Dead’s tour of Europe in April and May of 1972 was. To review briefly, though, the Dead’s first tour outside of North America took them to all sorts of historic and unusual venues in England, Denmark, West Germany, France, Holland and even tiny Luxembourg. Many members of the Dead “family” came along on what was really an extended working vacation that was designed to both expose the Dead to new audiences and also reward the band for their unlikely conquest of America during the preceding two years. As a hedge against the costs of the nearly two-month trip, the Dead’s label, Warner Bros., paid for the band to lug around a 16-track recorder to capture the entire tour… and we’re glad they did! This was a band at the top of its game, still ascending in the wake of three straight hit albums — Workingman’s Dead, American Beauty and the live Grateful Dead (“Skull & Roses”). It had been a year since the lineup had gone to its single-drummer configuration, six months since Keith Godchaux had been broken in as the group’s exceptional pianist, and this marked the first tour to feature Donna Godchaux as a member of the touring band. There was a ton on new, unreleased material that came into the repertoire in the fall of ’71 (after “Skull & Roses” was out) and during the spring of ’72, including “Tennessee Jed,” “Jack Straw,” “Mexicali Blues,” “He’s Gone,” “Comes A Time,” “Ramble on Rose,” “One More Saturday Night,” “Black Throated Wind,” “Looks Like Rain” and Pigpen’s “Chinatown Shuffle,” “The Stranger (Two Souls in Communion)” and “Mr. Charlie.” (Sadly, this was Pigpen’s final tour.) All those future classics were interspersed with songs from the aforementioned “hit” albums—such as “Uncle John’s Band,” “Brokedown Palace,” “Cumberland Blues,” “Casey Jones,” “Sugar Magnolia,” “Bertha,” “Not Fade Away,” et al — and then were topped off by loads of big jamming numbers — the Europe ’72 tour produced spectacular versions of “Dark Star,” “The Other One” “Playing in the Band,” “Truckin’ ” “China Cat Sunflower” > “I Know You Rider,” “Good Lovin’,” “Lovelight” and even the early Pig chestnut “Caution.” And that’s leaving out a truckload of other tunes, too! There wasn’t a clunker show in the bunch, and many are acknowledged today as classics. No doubt you already have some favorites. Through the years, there have been a few releases of material from the Europe tour—starting with the 3-album Europe ’72 which knocked our socks off in the fall of that year, and followed many years later by material from a pair of German shows and the fantastic 4-CD Stepping Out, culled from the group’s eight shows in England. But this is IT!! Jeffrey Norman, who has been the primary mixer of Dead archival multi-track material for the past 15 years, has spent many months toiling over the 16-track masters from the tour, and will continue working on the mixes through the Winter and Spring, employing the high-tech Plangent Processes transfer and restoration tools, trying to get every show to sound “just exactly perfect” (as Bob Weir says) for this release. You might think you’ve heard that intense “Dark Star” > “Sugar Mag” > “Caution” from Copenhagen, but I guarantee you’ve never heard it sound this alive! Mastering to HDCD specs is two-time Grammy-winning engineer David Glasser of Airshow Mastering. Needless to say, all the songs that turned up on previous Europe compilations will be appear in their proper show contexts, and in the case of songs from the Europe ’72 album, without overdubs that were added later.(I will happily combine purchases to save you on shipping costs.) Grateful Dead Backstage Pass Puzzle Truck Oakland Coliseum 12/13/92 12/13/1992

Sold on eBay August 29th, 2024

Grateful Dead Backstage Pass Puzzle Truck Oakland Coliseum 12/13/92 12/13/1992

Grateful Dead Backstage Pass : 1992 : Puzzle : " Truck Puzzle ! " - Skeleton Road Crew Truck !! - Backstage Pass Puzzle Piece ! : Reonegro Art Design ! - (c) 1992 : December 13, 1992 ( 12/13/92 : 12/13/1992 ) - Oakland Coliseum - Oakland, California ( CA ) : 1992 Grateful Dead Productions, Inc. ( GDP ) - Vintage Original ( Genuine / Authentic ) : Very-Rare !!! Puzzle-Piece # 6 ( of 8 ! ) of the Reonegro designed Grateful Dead " Skeleton Road Crew Truck !! " Backstage Pass Puzzle !!! - for the '92 Winter Tour Show run !! ... at the Good Ol' Oakland Coliseum !!!!! Dead Fans !!! ... and, naturally too - Fans of OakTown ! ... Reonegro Art !! ... & G.D. " Skeleton " Road Crew Trucks !!! Offered here is Piece # 6 of the 8-Piece Reonegro designed " Skeleton Road Crew Truck ! " Backstage Pass Puzzle !! And as the photos very-well show, something is quite different indeed with this Road Crew Truck - as this is indeed the Grateful Dead Deadhead " Skeleton " Version !!! What a classic ... and how incredibly Grateful Dead ! and Rock & Roll !! I mean we've all got our G.D. Tour Memories, right ? The sheer Bliss ! of Dead Tour, the Road Trips, the Shows, the Friends, the States, the Venues, the Cities, and the " sometimes " question that I would at times either " ask " - or would be " asked " by fellow Dead Fans, at least in my Crew ! ... " Wait a minute ? What ' State ' ?? are We In Again " ??? Ha !!!!!!!!!! Classic. Yep, I admit that I have asked that question - without question ! And in all fairness, Back East - some of those borders are pretty darn close to each other, right ? Am I digging myself a hole here ?? Hilarious-stuff ... But out West, and in California ! - the Land & Home !! of The Grateful Dead ? Well ... the fact is - that you Never ! had to ask that question in Oakland. The Venue so-many Dead Fans considered " Home " - or, at least " Home away from Home " ! Once you touched that 580, 880, or whichever route - you knew that you were over 1/2 way there - to see the Boys Play ! -- in The Coliseum !!! Well, I've got to admit ... I had a grin ear to ear for this '92 Oaktown ! run - as heck, this Winter Tour just still seems like Yesterday ! And my goodness was it a fun one. And musically ? The Boys way-more than stood the test - as keep in mind that Garcia was very fresh at this point in time during this Winter Tour '92, as he had taken a little time off, as so had the rest of the Band ... Five ( 5 ) Shows in only 6-Nights !!! Jerry felt a little exhausted in the Summer of '92 - think Reno / J.G.B., etc. - and it was definitely time for a ' break ' ... no Fall Tour '92, as a result -- and unfortunately too ... that meant no Veneta, Oregon " 3rd Decadenal Field Trip "... Ouch. But once Halloween '92 & the Jerry Garcia Band rolled around ... Jerry was back !!! And even asked us, " So, How You'all Been ??! ". Awesome ... So in essence, this '92 Winter Tour was a " mini " Return ! of the Grateful Dead, if I may. And since I caught 3-Shows on this 5-Show run, I can personally assure you that things were fresh & creative - as everyone was feeling well, rested, groovy, and generally really-great ! Hey, even the Fans need a little break once in a while, right ? Well, then again ... Ha !! I remember very-well & vividly - in fact ... that after the 1st few Shows of this run, we were all trying to decide which Show was the Hottest ?! - and it was pretty tough !! You know, the late-night - pre-show / next-day type-stuff in the East Bay ... Bezerkeley, in fact ! Ooops, as it looks like I just accidentally slipped a " z " in mentioning one of my former schools. The Good Ol' Grateful Dead - in '92 ... from well over 30-Years ago !?! Some seriously Awesome ! times ... A pretty darn cool Pass here too whether you are looking to collect the whole Puzzle, or not ! And ... if you saw this Show, like me - here indeed is your rare chance to score this very cool Pass - as these Puzzle-Pieces always seem to get scooped up way-quick by the G.D. Puzzle-Pass Hunters ! A pretty fun hobby indeed, as how can't it be when it deals with the Grateful Dead !!?! ... and in this very-rare case, the secondary subject matter being a " G.D. Road Crew Truck " ... in Skeleton-esque Fashion ! Good luck on putting this Puzzle together too ... only Eight-pieces total to Collect - and then you are All Golden ! ... on the " G.D. Skeleton Road Crew Truck " ! Just check out the gold tooth, on this " worried-minded " Skeleton ! ... hoping that this Road Crew Truck doesn't roll off the Road ! Ha !! So-Classic ... as I myself just love this one - a Super-Duper Fun !! 5-Show ! stand in Good Ol' Oaktown ! & a Smokin'-Hot !! one too, at that- where the Band just kept on Delivering the Goods ! - Right-on the Mark ! - and Night After Night ! Wow !!! ... Enjoy !!!!!Grateful Dead : 12/13/1992 : Oakland Coliseum - Oakland, California ( CA ) : Setlist >>> Set I : Half Step Mississippi > All Over Now, West L.A. Fadeaway, Me & My Uncle > Maggie's Farm, Tennessee Jed > Promised Land Set II : Here Comes Sunshine > Long Way To Go Home, Victim Or The Crime > Terrapin Station > Drums > Space > Other One > Morning Dew Encore : The Weight Authentic manufacturer info is factory printed on back of Pass : " Mactac StarLiner " & " Design & Litho By CREST CRAFT Innovation & Excellence In Backstage Security Passes (w/ Crest Craft logo & contact info) ".
